Introducing the accompanying booklets

Booklet 1

Wonderland of living things and railways
Full-colour booklet/100p
B5 size

In this booklet, the appeal of the SEKISUI Main Line is presented in two parts.
The SEKISUI Main Line is the newest narrow-gauge railway in the world, having opened in June 2024.At its core lies the “SEKISUI Main Line”, a dual-gauge railway laid around the perimeter of the factory and warehouse buildings, combining gauges of 762 mm (2 ft 6 in) and 610 mm (2 ft). The main line itself is formed as a three-rail track. The route is an endless loop, a non-electrified single-track line with a total length of 630 metres.
Branching from this main line, within the adjacent KATO Railway Park (Tsurugaoka Park), is a three-road engine shed. From the factory side, Roads 1 and 2 are served by 762 mm gauge tracks branching from the main line. Road 3, on the park side, is a dedicated 610 mm gauge line and includes a small turntable partway along its length.
At the factory entrance, there is also a light railway exhibition shed. This is connected by a 762 mm gauge siding branching from the dual-gauge main line, though it is used only when moving exhibition vehicles.

In the first half, the English natural garden that surrounds the line is explored, while the second half focuses on OSCAR, one of the newest steam locomotives in the world, built in Japan in 2024. Through an abundance of photographs and illustrations, its story is told in rich detail.
The philosophies of the Scottish gardener who created the landscape, and of the craftsmen who build steam locomotives in the modern age, have together endowed this still-young railway with a quiet vitality that continues to draw people in.

Booklet 2

Locomotives Like Me
Full-colour booklet/48p
A5 size

Locomotives Like Me is a small picture book.
It tells of a girl who did not like herself.
No one quite knew why. If she tried to explain, the words would slip away, like steam into the air. When she said, “I don’t like myself,” people would frown and tell her she shouldn’t say such things. Or they would nod lightly and move on, as if it were nothing at all. Some even seemed to accept it too easily, which somehow made it feel heavier.
There were books, too, filled with instructions on how to learn to like oneself. And there were kind voices saying, “Girls look best when they smile.” They meant no harm. Still, those words only made her want to cry.
So she stopped trying.
Then, one day, something different happened.

She was praised — not because she had tried, not because she had changed, but simply as she was. No conditions, no instructions, no gentle corrections waiting behind the words. Just a quiet, unquestioning warmth.

And something inside her shifted, almost without her noticing.

She no longer had to chase the idea of liking herself. She had stepped past it, into a place where something else waited — a place where she could, quite simply, love.

And there, in that quiet place, she found it.

A locomotive.

Its name was OSCAR.

And for her, that was enough.

The mini diorama base included in the SEKISUI Main Line Mini Diorama Kit is approximately twice the size of conventional mini diorama bases.
By using separately available compatible kits, you can also create scenes beyond the SEKISUI Main Line.

Stage

The top tier of the three-layer mini diorama base, known as the ‘stage’, is designed to be divided into three sections: a central area for the track, and two side areas for creating diorama scenery. By using a separately sold compatible kit (product number), it is possible to create an alternative scenic stage with a completely different landscape. (Includes fixing parts for transport.)
